Deleting your account, plainly.
This page says how to delete your Outride rider or driver account, what deleting removes, what is kept, and when it cannot be done yet. Deleting is permanent.
- Rider app: open Profile & settings and choose Delete account.
- Driver app: open Profile and choose Delete account. If you applied to drive and are not approved yet, Delete account is also on your application status screen.
You type DELETE to confirm. If you signed in more than 15 minutes ago, we send a code by text message (or by email, if that is how you sign in) to confirm it is you, and you enter it before the account is deleted.
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- Your documents, and the photos stored with them (for a driver: the driver’s license and insurance photos).
- Your cars (drivers).
- The phones and devices signed in to your account, and the notification tokens for them.
- Your saved cards. The customer record at Stripe, the company that holds card details, is deleted too.
- The images from the Stripe identity check (drivers) are redacted at Stripe.
- Your sign-in. Every phone and browser signed in to the account is signed out, and the account is removed.
Your phone number or email address can be used to sign up again later. That makes a new account: nothing from the deleted one comes back.
These are kept, and are no longer linked to your name:
- Trip and payment records, because the law requires payment records to be kept and because they are the record of what happened on a trip.
- Messages, support requests and ratings you wrote. They are shown as from “Deleted user”.
- Reports made on a trip. You stop being the person who made the report. A report about you keeps you as the person it is about, together with its reason, its details and the message that was reported, so that deleting an account does not end a report.
- For a driver: the background check order and the consent signed for it, including the legal name it was signed with.
Blocks you set, and blocks others set against you, are deleted. A driver’s suspension stays on the record, with the operator’s note replaced by “Removed when the account was deleted.”
Stripe and Checkr keep their own records under their own policies; the privacy policy says what each one holds.
Deleting is refused while any of these is true. The app tells you which, and you can try again as soon as it has cleared.
- A trip is in progress. A trip that has been requested but not finished has to finish first.
- A completed ride has not been paid for. The payment has to go through first. If it does not, contact support to settle it, then delete.
- A driver has earnings that have not been paid out. Delete after the payout has gone through, so the money reaches you first.
- A driver has earnings waiting and no payout account. Finish setting up payouts in the driver app. Your earnings are then paid out, and you can delete.
If you cannot open the app, or no longer have it, write to hello@outride.now with the subject Delete my account. Send it from the email address on your account, or give the phone number you sign in with. We confirm that it is you, delete the account, and reply when it is done. That happens within 30 days.
You can also use the contact form and say the same thing.
